How do I get back into the art scene and find out who and what is hot?

I’m a college student and my school doesnt have a very big art department. I used to take art classes but I dont have any this semester. I really love art and I need a resource(preferably a website) that lets me in on whats going on in the art world. I wanted to get a subscription to ARTnews, but I cant afford it right now. I am past magazine websites and some museum websites dont really help. Also, library access is kinda difficult. Anyone know any good websites or tips?
