Olivia calling: I’m just looking for suggestions for different types of pieces to include in a portfolio for admissions to an art college. What did you have in yours? Did any specific pieces provoke the attention of admissions in your interview? What do you think they liked best?
Just tell me your story!
and if it makes a difference I am applying to transfer to the Cleveland Institute of Art for next fall. Currently though I am attending a community college.

Ashleigh calling: I was just wondering, how much money is spend on a video game’s cover art (the art that is on the front of a video game box)? Or how much of the budged is usually spend on the cover art?
I’m asking this because I really really like cover art of Call of Duty: World at War, and I was wondering how much money was spend on creating that picture.

Christene calling: I am graduating this Spring with an Art Education degree. We are planning to move to Calgary Alberta, but I am not sure if I can get a job as an Art Teacher there. I am unsure of the need for art teachers there. What other options, other than working in an Art Museum can I do with my degree there?

Dann calling: I am the teacher of an after school art club at a middle school. It’s a public school, so 90% of art supplies comes from my own home and the money comes from my pocket.
I also don’t get paid for doing it.
I adore my students, and I would love it if they could get a good art education. Art club is the only one they get in school– there is no money for actual art classes, which is really sad.
Is there a way I can get places like Jo-ann’s or Michaels to donate old art supplies?
What else can I do?
I am in Los Angeles.

Yen calling: And no I’m not gonna just sit on a stool and watch fox news all day and call it art. I have an piece thats very physically and mentally demanding and will take atleast 6 months to a year. But the finished product (I think) would be both entertaining and carry a powerful message about our society.
But I’m not schooled in the arts, and I’m not a part of any performance art scene. So I have no idea where to look and how to submit a grant proposals. (I can figure out the ladder on my own)
If anyone have any intel on this subject or has a personal experience you would like to share please do. I appreciate any help I can get on this.

Dinorah calling: I have never been exposed to this art in the professional arena, however my son creates this art naturally (also not been exposed to it other than his own ability) and it is stunning. He enjoys origami, but does not enjoy it’s limitations. I have heard there is an art form name for this, but the PhD I spoke with could not recall it’s title, but he assures me this is a known art form. Can you help me?
He does not use a glue type of medium or a frame to apply it. It is simply paper torn and assembled into things (bowl of fruit, leaves, trucks, stairs, boxes, working locks and keys)

I am past magazine websites and some museum websites dont really help. Also, library access is kinda difficult. Anyone know any good websites or tips?
